The following support note describes how to connect the Datalogic Skorpio Scanning terminal to a wireless network and configure the scanner to support custom Prefix and Suffix settings.
Power On the Device
Double Tap Control Panel from the Handheld Desktop or from the Start Menu
Double Tap or Select Wireless Communication verify the Wi-Fi adaptor is ON and the ICON GREEN. If not choose the ON then exit by tapping OK. You now need to perform a software reset - to do this press and hold the YELLOW, BLUE, and ORANGE SCAN buttons. Release the buttons as soon as the screen blanks. The device will now restart with the Wireless Adaptor enabled.
Check the TCP-IP settings - Double Tap Control Panel from the Handheld Desktop or from the Start Menu choose Network and Dial-up Connections. Locate the icon that has the two PC's joined to the 'upside-down' T (if the network is disabled you may see a red cross above the T). To select the properties tap and hold this icon or tap the icon once and choose the properties icon in the window title bar. Use the tap and hold method, now verify the connector is enabled, the first menu item should be DISABLE, if it reads ENABLE then choose this option prior to accessing the properties option.
Choose Properties and the Title Bar should read “Summit WLAN… ” - ensure the IP Address is correctly set (DHCP or Specified). The Name Servers should be left blank if you are using DHCP - or specify the IP addresses as per your server or access point settings.
Double Tap Control Panel from the Handheld Desktop or from the Start Menu - then choose Summit Client Utility. Select the Main Tab - verify the Active Config is set to DEFAULT. At this point the not should read - Is Not Associated. Make sure the command button reads DISABLE RADIO - do not click this - this indicates the RF-Wireless is Enabled.
Choose the Config Tab. Tap the first option SSID ensure the string is the same as your WIRELESS network name - with exact case match - for example Datapel is different to datapel. A good way to check this is to use your PC to display the Wireless Networks in your area and check the names of the displayed Access Points. To display a keyboard tap the bottom of the display (the action bar). Choose COMMIT. Now select the SECURITY protocol type - if using WEP select Manual and enter the WEP KEY as a series of Numbers and Capital letters.
The handheld device will automatically associate if the credentials are correct - however it takes a couple of minutes. Now perform a Software Reset - to do this press and hold the YELLOW, BLUE, and ORANGE SCAN buttons.
Check the Device is now associated from Control Panel Summit Client Utility the configuration should show the Default Active Configuration as Associated. Tap the Status Tab and you can review signal strength and general IP / MAC parameters for the device. You can alternatively choose the network icon from the handheld desktop.
If the above fails to associate check your security settings - for test purposes you can set up a tempory Access Point with MOBILE ssid and no security just to verify your handheld setup. You can also try a full device HARDWARE RESET to do this press and hold the YELLOW, BLUE, ORANGE SCAN and DOWN ARROW buttons; you will need to start from STEP 1.
