Introduction
In high-compliance industries, knowing exactly which raw materials went into a finished product is essential. Datapel WMS provides full Component Traceability, allowing you to link specific stock items (including batch and serial numbers) to a completed Work Order. This is vital for Quality Control (QC) and managing potential product recalls.
How to Trace Components in a Work Order
To view the audit trail of components used in an assembly, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access the Work Order
Navigate to the Assemblies module.
Open the Work Order list view.
Search for and select the specific Work Order you wish to investigate.
Step 2: View Component Allocation
Once the Work Order is selected, you can view the linked components:
Look for the Components or Materials tab within the Work Order detail screen.
Here, the WMS displays the specific items consumed during the assembly process.
Step 3: Audit for Quality Control
The system records the following data for every component used:
Item Code & Description: The exact raw material used.
Quantity Consumed: The precise amount deducted from inventory.
Batch/Serial Details: If the item is tracked, the specific batch or serial number is linked to the finished assembly ID.
[!TIP] Proactive QC: You can use the Stock Reports section to run a "Component Usage" report, which allows you to search for a specific raw material batch and see every Work Order it was used in.
