Description

Bins are created and managed using the WMS. The following document explains how to create bins and enable/disable users from Locations.

The meaning of GISC (manage bin locations)

GISC is geographic location coordinates.
It's a grid overlay over the warehouse to give our system an idea of where bins are in relation to each other.

Detail Steps


CREATING BINS

  1. From the Tools menu, select Manage Lists.

  2. Select Location Bins

  3. Select the Location you wish to add the bins to.

  4. Select the “Manage Locations Bins” Button.

  5. Enter the bin number into the bin number field and zone if required.

  6. Add a description if required.

  7. Click the Add button.

UPDATING BINS

  1. From the Tools menu, select Manage Lists.

  2. Select Location Bins

  3. Select the Location in which you wish to edit the bins.

  4. Select the Manage Location Bins Button.

  5. Double Click the bin number - details will load into the details section above.

  6. Edit as desired.

  7. Click the Rename button.

EXPORT/IMPORT BINS

  1. From the Tools menu, select Manage Lists.

  2. Select Location Bins

  3. Select the Location.

  4. Select the Manage Location Bins button.

  5. Select the Export Button.

  6. File downloads.

  7. Open the File using notepad or import the file into Microsoft Excel. Using number fields for data such as "1A1" will cause mathematical errors.

  8. Existing bin descriptions can be updated; however, the bin number is the identifier and cannot be changed via import.

  9. Follow the format of the existing bins and save the file as .csv.

  10. From the Tools menu, select Manage Lists.

  11. Select Location Bins

  12. Select the Location.

  13. Select the Manage Location Bins button.

  14. Select the Import Bins Button.

  15. Review the on-screen report.

BIN ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION

  1. From the Tools menu, select Manage Lists.

  2. Select Location Bins

  3. Select the Location.

  4. Select the Manage Location Bins button.

  5. Select the Show Inactive Bins option.

  6. Single-click the bin number.

  7. Select "Make Active" or "Make Inactive".

Hide inactive Location/Bins from WMS Users

1. Make sure you are logged in as Superuser.
2. Go to Tools menu > select Manage Lists > Location Bins.
3. Highlight inactive location and select Enable User Access.
4. Screen with all Users will appear.
5. Untick the box for all User.
6. Select Close.
7. All users might need to restart the WMS session to obtain changes.

Minimum 3 characters are recommended for bin names; this is especially crucial for usage with handheld scanners.

You may not reuse bin numbers per zones, bin numbers must be unique per location.
