Setting up an email for WMS

This article explains how to setup an email for WMS (for End Users).

Detail Steps

To use Datapel's email client, there are a few options:

1) Use Datapel's standard email client and set the "From email" to WMS users email or one email address for all emails

- This is the Standard Option

No record of a sent item in local email user account
Some user may mark this as spam

2) Use Datapel's standard email client - Customer IT admin to setup the Cname (Datapel to provide the details on setup)

User will need to add these to their DNS provider
The server will handle SPF and DKIM.

Most accounts will not mark this as spam

3) Use your SMTP server (we only support SMTP and not Exchange)

We support two options for this,

A) Single outgoing SMTP account for all users.

For this, Datapel will require:

  • Hostname

  • Port

  • Username

  • Password

B) Individual outgoing SMTP account

For this, Datapel will require:

  • Hostname

  • Port


4) Use customers SMTP and Customer IT admin to setup the relay on SMTP

Allows Multiple users "From email" and storage of sent emails in users sent folder.
Most accounts will not mark this as spam.

Each user will be required to enter their email credentials in WMS preferences.

Open Options > Preferences > General > add email credentials > Record Preferences
The box "Always Send Email from my personal account" must be ticked.

  • Must always tick the "Save From Sender Profile with Email Templates".
