Overview
When attempting to Invoice Shipped Sales, you may encounter the following error message:
“An object reference is not set to an object 'Message' instance: 'CompanyFile is read-only'.”
This alert indicates that Datapel WMS is unable to push data to your accounting system (MYOB) because the file is currently locked, offline, or set to a restricted state. Use the steps below to restore the connection.
Instructions to Resolve the Read-Only Alert
Step 1: Verify Accounting System Status
Before troubleshooting the WMS, ensure your MYOB company file is active and accessible online. If the file has been checked out, is being upgraded, or the subscription has lapsed, the WMS will be blocked from making changes.
Open your MYOB AccountRight software.
Check the status bar to ensure you are working Online.
Refer to the MYOB Help Centre: Confirming Activated Company Files to ensure your file is properly activated.
Step 2: Retry the Invoicing Process
Once you have confirmed that the company file is online and accessible:
Return to the Datapel WMS.
Navigate to the Sales or Shipping module where the alert occurred.
Attempt to Invoice Shipped Sale again.
Step 3: Contact Support
If the "Read Only" alert persists despite the company file being active and online, there may be a specific permission or synchronization lock requiring technical intervention.
Gather a screenshot of the error message.
Contact a Datapel Support member via the help desk for further investigation.
