Description

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating and updating warehouse locations in Datapel WMS integrated with MYOB AccountRight.

Because Datapel synchronizes directly with your accounting software, physical warehouse locations are created using a combination of MYOB Inventory Locations and Supplier Cards, which are then synced into Datapel WMS via data replication.

Detail Steps

Part 1: Creating a New Location

Step 1: Create the Stock Location in MYOB

To create a new inventory or stock location in MYOB AccountRight (Premier or AccountRight Plus editions only):

  1. Go to the Inventory command centre in MYOB.

  2. Click Locations.

  3. Click New.

  4. Enter a Location ID (up to 10 characters) and a Location Name.

  5. Click OK to save.

Step 2: Create a Supplier Card in MYOB

  1. In MYOB, navigate to the Card File command centre and click Cards List.

  2. Click New and set the Card Type to Supplier.

  3. Enter the Card Name.

? Best Practice: We recommend starting location card names with a consistent prefix, such as LOC- (e.g., LOC-Main Warehouse or LOC-Sydney Hub). This keeps all location cards neatly grouped together in your accounting file.

Step 3: Configure Card ID, Address, and Contact Information

  1. Set the Card ID. This is the exact name that will appear in the Datapel WMS location drop-down list (e.g., COLDSTORE or NSW).

  2. Enter the complete Street Address, Phone Number, and Contact Name.

? Important: The location will not be created or synced in Datapel WMS if the Contact Name or Street Address is left blank.

Step 4: Assign the Location Identifier ('L')

  1. While still in the Supplier Card window, select the Details tab.

  2. Under Identifiers, select and apply the 'L' identifier.

Step 5: Perform Replication in Datapel WMS

  1. Log into Datapel WMS.

  2. Perform a Maintenance / Detailed Replication to pull the newly created MYOB location and card details into your WMS database.

  3. Once replication is complete, your new location will be active and available in Datapel WMS.

Part 2: Updating an Existing Location

Step 1: Edit the Supplier Card in MYOB

  1. Open MYOB AccountRight and navigate to the Card File.

  2. Locate and open the existing Supplier Card for the location you wish to update.

  3. Update the necessary fields (Street Address, Phone Number, Contact Name, or Card Name).

  4. Verification Check: Ensure you do not remove the Contact Name, Street Address, or the 'L' identifier.

  5. Click OK to save your changes.

Step 2: Sync Changes to Datapel WMS

  1. Open Datapel WMS.

  2. Run a Maintenance Replication to update the location information across your WMS environment.

Important Rules & Workflow Restrictions

⚠️ CRITICAL: Do Not Delete Location Cards

Location cards must never be deleted from your accounting system or WMS, as deleting them can break historical inventory movement records.

To disable an unused location:

  1. Open Datapel WMS.

  2. Go to Tools > Locations > Manage Details.

  3. Hide and disable the location from user selection lists.

ℹ️ Storage Bins vs. Locations

Storage Bins (aisles, racks, shelves) are not created within MYOB. Bins are configured and managed directly inside Datapel WMS.
